“Nirbhaya” is the name they address you with,

Something that means ‘One who's fearless’,

But something that happened which was so terrible,

It was something that was truly shameless!!

In order to save the ‘brave heart’, there wasn’t much one could really do,

It would be unfair if we say, ‘we can understand what she went through’!!

Maybe she died well before she was declared dead,

And later all this nation saw, was every genuine heart with a mourned head!

In the entire episode, what was her fault?

Was it her beauty or her feminine gender?

That ended up bringing her life to a halt?

Who gave them the right of sabotaging her life?

Why couldn't they think off their mother, sister or a wife?
What’s the point when the person is gone, and…

The whole nation now, demonstrating their strife!!

With the verdict being out,

The whole world may be in a state of exult,

However, there's still one left who might be glad,

As per the law, he’s still innocent and he cannot be termed an adult!

Death sentence is a punishment, not a solution,

Being a female is a gift too, we need to flush all other illusions,

Can there really be a penalty to make someone kind?

Or a tablet to cure something, that is an illness of a mind?

Still, inundate cases pending in the plate,

Is there really a solution we plan to come up with?
